I have always been motivated to travel, even when I was a child. Thanks to basketball I have been able to discover the USA, Tunisia, and Canada, where my sister is living, along with many other countries. All my family were attracted to the customs and cultures of other countries. My Grandfather on my mothers side spent all his life abroad. My other grandparents left for Senegal, where my father was born, and they lived in Gorée Island and Dakar until he was 17. But the trip my aunt offered me was the one that made me question myself. A wonderful landscape, I was amazed by all these animals, but the village crossing and the living conditions of all these children helped me to understand that we are not equals. And I was only 10 years old. These memories are engraved forever in my mind. Time has passed and the motivation to excell myself has never left me.
Today, we can’t be spectators, we have to become actors, give smiles and hopes to these children even if it’s like a drop of water in the ocean. The ball allowed me to meet people, to respect the rules, it brought me happiness, so together let’s make some of their dreams come true...
We have privileges that some people will never have...I chose sport, basketball, which made me grow up and assert myself. This sport with discipline, managers and volunteers who have always been there and given their time, ready at anytime to listen and help these kids.I thank them for teaching me these values, which are mine today and that I wish to pass on one day...
The first rule they taught me and that I have never forgot, is that we are stronger all together and we have to work together to become a team.We are young and we all want to share with these kids who were not born in the right place, those who don’t have the same opportunities. They have many dreams in their minds, our humble team will have to be strong to let them believe in it…
